Bible class sought for Colorado School District.


A Colorado public school district is under pressure to adopt a Bible Bible [Gr.,=the books], term used since the 4th cent. to denote the Christian Scriptures and later, by extension, those of various religious traditions. This article discusses the nature of religious scripture generally and the Christian Scriptures specifically, as  curriculum authored by a Religious Right group.

 The Denver Post, more than 800 residents have signed a petition calling on the Moffat County Re-1 School District to adopt a Bible course promoted by the National Council on Bible Curriculum in the Public Schools (NCBC NCBC Naval Construction Battalion Center (US Navy)
NCBC North Carolina Biotechnology Center (Research Triangle Park, NC)
NCBC National Concrete Bridge Council (Skokie, IL) 
).

The North Carolina-based group, headed by Elizabeth Ridenour, uses the Bible as the course's sole text and teaches the Bible as actual history. Ridenour's work is supported by Religious Right organizations and her board includes the actor-turned-evangelical Christian activist Chuck Norris Carlos Ray "Chuck" Norris (born March 10, 1940) is an American martial artist, action star, and Hollywood actor who is known for playing Cordell "Cord" Walker on Walker, Texas Ranger and his iconically tough image. . NCBC's Web site also inaccurately claims that the Bible "was the foundation and blueprint blueprint, white-on-blue photographic print, commonly of a working drawing used during building or manufacturing. The plan is first drawn to scale on a special paper or tracing cloth through which light can penetrate.  for our Constitution...."

School Supt. Pete Bergmann told The Post that high school social studies teachers would review the curriculum to determine its educational merits.

Bergmann added, "The obvious question then is whether or not this is a violation of the Constitution."
