BiTMICRO Stirs Up the SSD Industry with 416GB 2.5-inch SATA Flash Disk Drive.

The E-Disk Altima Line Goes Full Speed with the Introduction of the New SATA (Serial ATA) A serial version of the ATA (IDE) interface, which has been the de facto standard hard disk interface for desktop PCs for more than two decades. The original Parallel ATA (PATA) interface was launched in 1986.  Interface Boasting 3Gb/sec Burst Rate

BEIJING -- BiTMICRO Networks, Inc., pioneer in flash solid state storage solutions, announced today the expansion of its intelligent flash IDE/ATA IDE/ATA Integrated Device Electronics/Advanced Technology Attachment (hard drive interface standard) , SCSI SCSI

This 2.5-inch, flash based solid state SATA drive is capable of storing up to 416GB of data and sustaining transfer rates of up to 100MB/sec, making it ideal for mobile computing, embedded and networked storage solutions. Volume shipments are expected to begin by Q2 2008.

Mobile computing applications are set to benefit from these features since the 2.5-inch E-Disk([R])Altima([TM]) E2A3 is a drop-in replacement for drives used in business laptops or rugged portable PCs.

Since its inception, SATA has gained the nod of industry experts as the interface provided advancements over its predecessor parallel ATA (PATA (Parallel ATA) Refers to the original ATA (IDE) technology that uses a parallel data channel from the controller to the disk drives. After Serial ATA drives became popular, the PATA term was coined to specifically refer to the parallel drives. See IDE and SATA. ), also known as ATA/IDE. Among its advantages is a point-to-point interface that connects storage devices such as hard disks, DVD DVD: see digital versatile disc.

It also has a scalable interface solution that supports several speed doublings to address the needs of future storage devices. With SATA, there is no need for interaction between devices as a direct connection is provided to the host via a dedicated link.

"The E-Disk([R] )Altima([TM]) E2A3 SATA drive is another vital contribution of BiTMICRO to the consumer and enterprise storage users and adds another feather to our engineering cap," said Rudy Bruce, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Sales and CMO CMO

of BiTMICRO Networks, Inc. "BiTMICRO continually innovates the capabilities of flash memory long before computer and storage manufacturers have realized the robustness, low power consumption, and speed of solid state storage. The E-Disk([R] )Altima([TM]) series, in particular the E2A3 SATA drive, helps storage users get in sync with the next generation of multi-core processors and performance-hungry operating systems that are coming out of the market," Bruce explains.

About EDSA[TM] and LUNETA[TM]

The Enhanced Datamover and Storage Accelerator (EDSA[TM]) DMC is a proprietary controller that succeeds the highly successful disk controller chipset of BiTMICRO([R])'s electronic disk technology. The EDSA[TM] DMC supports large block NAND flash as well as single, dual, quad-die flash devices, allowing BiTMICRO to hike E-Disk solid state disk capacities to terabytes of pure flash memory.

EDSA[TM] goes hand in hand with the Logical Unifier of Extensive Transfer Arrays (LUNETA[TM]) MFI, BiTMICRO's proprietary flash memory management interface controller that is designed to orchestrate massively parallel and multi-block I/O operations on large arrays of flash devices. LUNETA[TM] supports both NAND (Not AND) A Boolean logic operation that is true if any single input is false. Two-input NAND gates are often used as the sole logic element on gate array chips, because all Boolean operations can be created from NAND gates. See flash memory.  (SLC or MLC (MultiLevel Cell) A flash memory technology that stores more than one bit per cell. Traditional flash memory defines a 0 or 1 bit based on a single voltage threshold. ) and AND types of flash memory and is typically used in designs to complement the EDSA[TM] DMC in applications that require scalability and management of larger amounts of flash devices.
