Bhurgari for utilization of Zakat fund in treatment of poor patients.

HYDERABAD, November 08, 2009 (Balochistan Times): Sindh Minister for Fisheries Zahid Ali Bhurgari while taking serious notice over the return of Rs 10.34 million from different Taluka Hospitals of Hyderabad district, which provided by the District Zakat Committee for medical treatment of deserving and needy persons, has asked the officers of health department to open Zakat Counters in all Taluka hospitals of the district and ensure free medical treatment of needy and deserving patients. The minister who is also the President of Pakistan Peoples Party Hyderabad District has issued such directives during ceremony of Zakat Cheque distribution among the management of Taluka Hospitals here on Saturday evening. He said that the present democratic government of PPP had promised with people for providing free medical treatment and such commitment would be fulfilled at any cost. He categorically stated that those involved in negligence would be taken to task. The minister said that minimum amount of Zakat grant is being spent in the health services due to non awareness among the masses about the utilization of Zakat amount for medical purpose. The government has made the medical treatment of Hepatitis, Tuberculosis and other deadly diseases completely free. The Chairman District Zakat Committee Sher Muhammad Pirzada while speaking on the occasion informed that the committee has requested to Sindh government to include Sir C.J. Institute of Psychiatry into Zakat Fund net and also enhanced the Zakat grant to NIMRA Jamshoro. Later, the minister distributed Zakat Fund Cheque of Rs. 1.2 million among the management of Shah Bhittai, CDF, Paretabad, Tando Qaiser, Qasimabad, Tando Jam and Central Jail Hospitals of Hyderabad district.
