E-commerce services provider Beyond.com (Nasdaq:BYND) today announced the appointment of Ralph Godfrey to its board of directors.

Godfrey served most recently as the senior vice president of e-Commerce and member of 3Com's executive committee until his retirement in September of 2000. Godfrey has more than 30 years' experience in high technology sales and marketing.

Godfrey has been with 3Com since 1990 in various capacities, including vice president of global channel sales and senior vice president of sales for 3Com Americas. Prior to joining 3Com, Godfrey was president of Unisys' value-added marketing division, which was created following the acquisition of Convergent Technologies (company) Convergent Technologies - A company formed by a small group of people who left Intel Corporation in 1979. Convergent Technologies' first product was the IWS (Integrated Workstation) based on the Intel 8086, which ran Convergent Technologies Operating System - their first  in 1989.
