Internet Software Superstore Beyond.com(TM) (Nasdaq:BYND) today announced that it has posted links to the latest updates that detect the VBS/Bubbleboy worm infection on the company's Antivirus Center at http://www.beyond.com/support/antivirus.htm.

"Beyond.com offers customers immediate solutions to combat the Bubbleboy virus An e-mail virus launched in November 1999 that affected English and Spanish versions of Microsoft Outlook running with Windows 98 or 2000 and Internet Explorer 5. It did not do any harm, but sent out an e-mail to everyone in the address list, which may have caused a mail storm in certain , with products and information," said Trinka Dyer, vice president and general manager of the consumer division at Beyond.com.

Unlike previous worms transmitted through email, the VBS/Bubbleboy type of worm does not come as an executable attachment. Instead, it infects PCs as soon as the transmitting email message is opened, making users more susceptible to it than previous viruses. VBS/Bubbleboy is transmitted through an email message with the subject heading "Bubbleboy is back!"

The links on the Beyond.com site allow Beyond.com customers who have purchased previous versions of McAfee's VirusScan and Symantec's Norton AntiVirus A popular antivirus program from Symantec. The AntiVirus function is available as a separate product for home and business users or as part of various packages that contain other utilities such as Norton SystemWorks and Norton Internet Security.
