Beye: Now we have to produce these performances all the time.

Byline: By LEE RYDER

HABIB BEYE today saluted Newcastle United's watertight display at Stamford Bridge Stamford Bridge could be

But he urged his team-mates to reproduce re·pro·duce

the performance in order to shoot the Magpies back up the Premier League table.

Just like the rest of his colleagues in the Toon back four, Beye was outstanding in defence as they kept the title hopefuls at bay in their own back yard.

And after putting in the best defensive display of the season by far against Chelsea, Beye wants his side to continue their resoluteness when they travel to Middlesbrough at the weekend.

He told the Chronicle: "It was always going to be a massive test for all of us at Stamford Bridge.

"But everybody was magnificent at Chelsea.

"Now I hope this gives us the confidence to do the same every week.

"We have proved we have the ability to be like this more often.

"Nobody expected us to get anything at Chelsea.

"But it was a massive game for us and a massive point."

United, of course, headed to west London West London is the area of Greater London to the west of Central London. This led Beye to add: "No matter what the knockers

"When you look around our dressing room we have some good players.

"And if you went into the Chelsea dressing room and looked around they have some very good players too, but they are only human.

"We knew if we put some pressure on them we could get something."

Tails were unsurprisingly up in the Toon camp today, yet Beye feels there is still plenty of hard work to put in before the season is over.

But Beye feels if United can keep the bit between their teeth, they can quickly climb what many are describing as one of the closest Premier Leagues in history.

Beye continued: "Now we have to work hard every day to get this club back on to the right track.

"We can enjoy the moment, but the most important thing for us is to keep on getting more points.

"This league is very close and you can see that teams can get points in whatever game they play, if they want it badly enough.

"We proved it here and Fulham and Villa proved you can stop the top teams over the weekend too."
