Bex debate was valid part of Cov Con; Letters letters@coventrytelegraph.net.


IT was good of Jane Railton (Letters, November 20) to start a debate about the merit of Bex Shiner and Big Brother and her Coventry Conversation.

Whether she or I like it or not, BB represents an important strand of modern popular culture.

Bex was closely questioned on her rationale and understanding of the phenomena and some of her myths were unravelled.

She proved very popular with current students both before and after her Conversation. I place no value on that.

In contemporary television, the mansion has many rooms; some of which we might want to be kept secret. The Coventry Conversations tries to reflect that broad church and I think we usually succeed. I leave the regular large audiences to judge that.

I look forward to seeing Jane at a 'Cov Con' in the near future. She will be made most welcome.
