Between the Covers. In a decade when more and more lesbian musicians are comfortably out in the mainstream, Cris Williamson provides a link with our past. She began her career more than 30 years ago, when the only openly lesbian artists were troubadours troubadours (tr `bədôrz), aristocratic poet-musicians of S France (Provence) who flourished from the end of the 11th cent. through the 13th cent. who created their own venues in order to reach what became a loyal following Williamson, along with life partner-music partner Tret TRET, weights and measures. An allowance made for the water or dust that may be mixed with any commodity. It differs from tare. (q.v.) Fure, continues the tradition with Between the Covers, a collection of love songs. The album opens with two collaborations that confirm this duo's power: "Please Say" is rich with harmony, while "Honeymoon" offers a visual lyric lyric, in ancient Greece, a poem accompanied by a musical instrument, usually a lyre. Although the word is still often used to refer to the songlike quality in poetry, it is more generally used to refer to any short poem that expresses a personal emotion, be it a delivered within a spacious arrangement. Williamson and Fure share songwriting credits on four of this CD's 14 tracks, and their joint efforts are rich. But Fure's individual work often surpasses Williamson's. As a vocalist, Fure shines on "To See the Light." And her songwriter's sense of adventure is revealed on "Say Good Night." Williamson takes fewer musical risks. A look back at her other albums, including the seminal The Changer Changer The name given to a clearing member that is willing to assume the opposite position of a futures contract within a larger alternative exchange, of which it also is a clearing member. and the Changed, recalls more diverse lyrics lyrics npl [of song] → paroles fpl lyrics lyric npl [of song] → Text m and textured arrangements. Still, fans will enjoy her familiar warmth. And when Williamson and Fure combine their talents, they create passionate music that, even in the "out" '90s, paints a vivid picture of two women in love. |
