), today announced gasoline figures that show Californians used less gasoline in October 2007 than the same month a year ago, a decline of 2.0 percent. September to October gasoline use increased slightly by 3.6 percent.

Californians used 1.32 billion gallons in October 2007, down 27.0 million than the same period a year earlier.

The average pump price of gasoline in October 2007 was 3.11 per gallon, up 52 cents per gallon from the average pump price in October 2006 of $2.59.

The publicly-elected Board of Equalization is able to monitor gallons sold through tax returns filed by fuel companies.
