The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) sponsored its first internship program in 1983 under the distinguished leadership of Betty F. Jaynes. Since that time, Betty "Jumpshot" Jaynes has stepped down from her role as Chief Executive Officer. In November of 2000, the WBCA Internship Program was renamed the Betty F. Jaynes Internship Program in honor of her great leadership and commitment to the sport of women's basketball. Although she has retired, she still donates much of her time to creating opportunities in the field of women's sports. Through the internship program, Betty F. Jaynes legacy will continue to grow for years to come.
