"Brand new design combined with great Xerox engineering ... there are no machines that are every bit as good as the (Document Centre 265 and 255) and that cost less ... they are certainly two of the better digital machines that money can buy," wrote the editors of Better Buys for Business in their just-published review.

The publication cited the unique modular design In the context of systems engineering, modular design — or "modularity in design" — is an approach aiming to subdivide a system into smaller parts (modules) that can be independently created and then used in different systems to drive multiple functionalities.  of the Xerox products that enables users to add new document processing Processing text documents, which includes indexing methods for text retrieval based on content. "This recognition is another testament to our legacy of creating digital systems flexible enough to meet a myriad of user needs, yet powerful enough to handle many different document chores at once," said Richard Penwell, vice president and general manager of the Departmental Business Unit at Xerox. "We're pleased that the publication has given us this recognition and that our `winning streak' continues with our latest models."

In choosing Document Centre Systems as Editor's Choice in 1997, 1998 and again this year, Better Buys for Business has consistently cited Xerox for its digital technology leadership.

The Document Centre 265 and 255, which operate at 65 and 55 pages per minute respectively, are available in stand-alone copier and network laser printer versions, and as integrated digital systems capable of copying and printing documents. Scan and fax functionality will be added over time.
