Beta Systems Expands Portfolio in Identity Management; SAM Identity Management Suite Now Includes Enterprise Single Sign-On Component.

HERNDON, Va. -- Beta Systems Software AG (Prime Standard: BSS on the German stock exchange), a specialist supplier of software solutions for IT infrastructure associated with large corporations, has extended its SAM Identity Management Suite to include a new business-critical component. In acquiring the "Focal Point" enterprise single sign-on solution developed by OKIOK, Montreal, Canada, Beta Systems has gained access to all product rights, license and maintenance agreements, as well as existing customer and partner contacts. Both parties have agreed not to disclose details of the purchase price.

The new product will become an integral part of the SAM solution for cross-enterprise Identity Management (IDM) and is to be marketed as a separate module under the new name of SAM Enterprise Single Sign-On (SAM eSSO).

In September 2005, the company had already announced the launch of the two pioneering components SAM Data Synchronization Engine and SAM Virtual Directory - in conjunction with the SAM Jupiter provisioning solution, they are designed to facilitate the flexible implementation of complex Identity Management architectures. SAM Enterprise Single Sign-On now offers users convenient and secure access to the full range of enterprise IT systems by means of a single sign-on procedure. There is no need to sign on and off in the various applications, an improvement that translates into streamlined processes and costs (e.g. for password reset requests to the Help Desk). Thus, for many companies the return on investment associated with SAM eSSO can be achieved in under a year. By using strong passwords or authentication, SAM eSSO can also make access to enterprise networks more secure.
