BestBuy.com Features New Interactive Kitchen & Laundry Design Center; Customers Can Now Design Kitchen or Laundry Rooms Online.MINNEAPOLIS -- Best Buy has expanded its online resources by launching a Kitchen and Laundry Design Center on BestBuy.com. The innovative new tool, located in the Home & Appliances section of BestBuy.com, helps customers design their own kitchens, laundry rooms A laundry room (also called a utility room) is a room where clothes are washed. In a modern home, a laundry room would be equipped with an automatic washing machine and clothes dryer, and often a large basin, called a laundry tub, for hand-washing delicate articles of clothing such or wet bars, select products, and make purchases directly from the Web site or from their local Best Buy stores. "There's no other shopping experience like this," said Sam Taylor, senior vice president, online stores and marketing at BestBuy.com. "We know shopping for appliances can be a challenge, and this new technology gives customers a fun and easy way to select the appliances they want in the sizes and styles that work for them." Best Buy created the design center based on consumer research which confirmed that people prefer to visualize how appliances will look in their homes before buying them. The Kitchen and Laundry Design Center lets shoppers design rooms to specific dimensions in "2D" and view the rooms in "3D," making it easier to see what products are needed, and to ensure new appliances meet the size requirements and style of the room. Nearly half of Best Buy customers conduct research on BestBuy.com before coming into stores. The Kitchen and Laundry Design Center serves as a valuable resource to help customers understand their product and service options before they make a purchase. Customers can build detailed plans for their kitchens, laundry rooms or wet bars, and customize those rooms from a wide assortment assortment /as·sort·ment/ (ah-sort´ment) the random distribution of nonhomologous chromosomes to daughter cells in metaphase of the first meiotic division. as·sort·ment n. of appliance and consumer electronic products from Best Buy (including special order appliances and flat screen televisions).
