IT wasn't just the weather that turned out well at Down Royal yesterday.

The Mencap Race Day even gave Ascot a run for its money with an auction including a necklace presented to movie star Cameron Diaz.

Highlight of the day was the Best Dressed awards where fashionista Caroline Wilson Caroline Wilson (born 1960) is an Australian sports journalist.

Wilson began covering football in 1982 and she has been chief football writer for Melbourne's The Age newspaper since 1999.
 rode off with ladies' gong gong, percussion instrument consisting of a disk, usually with upturned edges, 3 ft (91 cm) or more in diameter in the modern orchestra, often made of bronze, and struck with a felt- or leather-covered mallet or drumstick. .

And leading Belfast bookie Ray Nicholls took the men's prize at a canter.
