NUNEATON'S Lee Carey (right) shattered his personal best for 3,000 metres for the second week running at the AAA Under-20 championships.

Carey, who doesn't turn 17 until September, finished in fifth place in 8 min 28.19 sec - eight seconds faster than his time at the Home Countries Schools international a week earlier.

The race was run at Crystal Palace as part of the London Grand Prix meeting.

o COVENTRY Godiva Under-15 Lijana Kaziow won the award for the best girls track performance in the National Boys & Girl League Premier Division match at Cannock.

Kaziow won the girls 75 metres hurdles in a AAA Grade 1 standard and personal best of 11.9 seconds, and for good measure took second place in the shot (8.24 metres).

The under-15 girls 4 x 100 metres relay team of Danielle Dillon, Amy Johnson, Siobhan Robinson and Shauna Lawton raced to victory in 54.0sec - completing a fine day for Johnson who had clocked personal bests of, respectively, 27.7 and 46.4 for second place in both the B 200 metres and A 300.

The Cole twins, Davina (2-21.5) and Rowena (2-31.0) scored an A and B 800 metres double which was repeated in the javelin throwers by newcomers Samantha Cullinane (28.50) and Katherine McBeth (21.01), both throwing personal bests.

Simone Huggins-Ward threw a Grade 1 36.64 metres to win the Under-17 girls javelin, and in the Under-13s Naomie Rabidas (21.2) won the 150 metres and partnered Charlotte Bartlett, Acacia Williams and Lauren Downing to victory in the 4 x 100 in 58.0.

Godiva finished fourth overall in the match behind Cannock, Tamworth and Bristol.
