This resource meant for librarians consists of a comprehensive and wide-ranging list of 14,588 recommended books, fiction and nonfiction, for readers in middle school and junior high. In addition to a brief plot summary, entries list book price, publisher, grade level, ISBN, publication date, Dewey Decimal classification number, and review citations. Entries are organized by genre, which include literary fiction, plays, poetry, literary history and criticism, language and communication, biography and memoir, and books on topics in the arts and entertainment, history and geography, philosophy and religion, society and the individual, academic and career guidance and personal development, science, and recreation and sports. This edition has been updated to incorporate titles published between 2004 and 2008 and lists those available in audio format and Lexiles. It includes award-winning, series, and suitable adult titles. General reference works, professional books for librarians and teachers, and mass market series books are not included. Books are drawn from titles in a number of book review journals.
