The North Tyneside Partnering Agreement (NTPA) has won this accolade for driving forward regeneration plans to revitalise North Shields Fish Quay North Shields Fish Quay a fishing port located close to the mouth of the River Tyne, in North Shields, Tyne and Wear, North East England, eight miles east of the city of Newcastle upon Tyne. . NTPA is a strategic partnering agreement established to deliver capital and planned maintenance programmes for North Tyneside Council. Following a comprehensive consultation exercise, NTPA has developed a detailed strategy to address issues such as safe footpaths, improved signage, improved links to North Shields, green corridors and networks, a `floodwall' study and lighting strategy. NTPA is delivering a range of capital projects necessary to bring about the transformation of one of the North-East's key regeneration zones. The overall master plan also brings together a number of initiatives delivered by other agencies to provide a holistic and sustainable solution for the area. To sustain the momentum, the NTPA has organised public consultation exercises via a number of dedicated focus groups. Regular news bulletins have been published to inform North Shields residents of the latest developments. The Fish Quay has a history of over 500 years and it is hoped that current and future regeneration projects will attract further investment into the area. NTPA's long-term vision is that the area will have a solid economic base, a thriving community and new, sustainable, developments which reflect the Fish Quay's proud heritage.
