) today announced the promotion of three senior vice presidents and three new vice presidents, all from within the Fortune 200 Company.

Susan S. Hoff, 35, senior vice president of Corporate Communications Corporate communications is the process of facilitating information and knowledge exchanges with internal and key external groups and individuals that have a direct relationship with an enterprise.  & Public Affairs Those public information, command information, and community relations activities directed toward both the external and internal publics with interest in the Department of Defense. Most recently she served as vice president of Corporate Communications and Public Relations public relations, activities and policies used to create public interest in a person, idea, product, institution, or business establishment. Hoff manages Best Buy's communications functions, including Employee Communications and Community, Investor, Government and Public Relations. She also founded the Best Buy's Children's Foundation in May 1994 that allocated $1.3 million to various charities during the 2000 fiscal year, and has served as President of its board of directors since its inception. Joseph M. Joyce, 48, senior vice president and General Counsel, joined Best Buy in 1991 as vice president - Human Resources and General Counsel with extensive background in real estate, securities and finance, and compensation and benefits programs. In 1997, Joyce focused his concentration primarily to the legal area when named vice president General Counsel. Prior to joining Best Buy, Joyce served 18 years with Tonka Corporation holding positions from general accountant to vice president, secretary and general counsel. A native of Minneapolis, Minn., Joyce graduated from University of Minnesota and attained a law degree from William Mitchell College of Law William Mitchell College of Law is a law school located in St. Paul, Minnesota. It offers full and part-time legal education in pursuit of the Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree. It is accredited by the American Bar Association. . Joyce also serves as secretary for the Best Buy's Children's Foundation Board of Directors.

Mike W. Marolt, 44, senior vice president of Loss Prevention, has been with Best Buy since 1985, most recently as vice president of Loss Prevention. Marolt was the first employee in the Company's Loss Prevention area and has been instrumental in building the department into a World Class operation. Marolt, a native of St. Paul, Minn., attended St. Thomas University Schools with the name St. Thomas University:

Shari L. Ballard, 34, vice president of Organizational Effectiveness has been with Best Buy for seven years, most recently as director of Human Resources - Retail. In her new position, Ballard provides Best Buy's leaders with the tools to hire, develop, and retain employees and preserve the culture of the Company. Ballard began her career in retail management and has played a key role in implementing the change management process at the retail stores. Ballard is a native of Swartz Creek, Mich., and a graduate from University of Michigan (body, education) University of Michigan - A large cosmopolitan university in the Midwest USA. Gerald C. Nanninga, 46, vice president of Strategic Planning, joined Best Buy in 1998 as director of Strategic Planning. Nanninga has been instrumental in developing the Best Buy strategic planning process and is a key participant in many of the Company's initiatives. Prior to joining Best Buy, he was director of Strategic Planning for SUPERVALU Inc. Nanninga is a native of Dearborn, Mich. He received his bachelor and master's degrees from University of Michigan.

Ric J. West, 39, vice president of Print Advertising, joined Best Buy in 1993 as Associate Creative Director. He pioneered Best Buy's in-house advertising department as the first and only fully digital production environment. Prior to joining Best Buy, West worked nine years at Cost to Coast as print production manager. A native of Morgan, Minn., he is a graduate of University of Minnesota.
