Gillooly to Oversee Rollout of Internet-Delivered

BuildLinks(TM) Software Tool for U.S. Residential Home Market

Best Builders Corp., a Cary-based firm that developed and markets BuildLinks, a Web-based collaboration and options-management tool for the builder and home buyer markets, announced today that building industry executive Gordon "Chip" Gillooly has taken the role of chief executive officer.

Gillooly will oversee the national commercial rollout of BuildLinks.

Launched by Jason Williamson, formerly with Relativity Technologies, and veteran homebuilder Scott Dixon, Best Builders received first-round financing in March, 2001 from Cary, N.C.-based Quantum Ventures. In response to rising market acceptance of BuildLinks, Best Builders is now seeking a second funding round to accelerate market penetration and expand support for its growing customer base. Best Builders will capitalize on the growing trend among venture capitalists to invest in products with demonstrable profitability and rising market adoption.

Gillooly comes to Best Builders with a long track record of success in the technology and building industries, particularly when working with early-and mid-stage companies. In 2000, with two other partners, including senior management from BuildNet, Gillooly created the IM Group, a venture management firm and venture fund focused on technology-related opportunities in the construction industry. Under his leadership, and with the backing of BuildNet, the IM Group executed the strategic acquisition of a number of homebuilding software and design companies. From 1996 to 1999, Mr. Gillooly served as president of Matrix Surface Technologies, a startup company with patented technologies for removing surface contaminants and radioactivity. Prior to his work at Matrix, Gillooly was part of the senior management team at Cherokee Sanford Group, a building products manufacturer, where he helped execute a $52 million management-led buyout of this company from Kohlberg, Kravis & Roberts. Gillooly has a B.S. from St. Louis University and an MBA from Duke University.
