Enjoy an authentic coastal crab feed at Florence on Saturday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the old Siuslaw Middle School, 750 Quince St. The cost is $10 per person. Proceeds benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Western Lane County. After dinner, walk to the Florence Events Center to the "Rock, Rhody and Roll" dance, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. It's "Snow White" as you've never seen it - 1970s "retro" complete with a prince in a v-e-r-r-r-y bad suit, a living, breathing silver mirror and Snow's best friends, a trio of Valley Girls, not to mention a lot of groovy old music and rollicking dance numbers. Tickets cost $6 for the production at the Spotlight Theatre in Pleasant Hill at 7 p.m. today and Saturday. Take Highway 58 to Ridgeway to Zephyr.

You bring the appetite and the Walterville Grange will bring the food. They're holding a chili feed at 5 p.m. today at George Millican Hall, 39259 Camp Creek Road. Take Highway 126 east from Springfield for five miles, then travel north on Camp Creek Road. The meal includes cornbread, salad and dessert - no price, but donations are welcome. A comida celebrating dia de los corazones (OK, a Valentine's Day dinner) will be hosted Saturday at the Crow Grange by the ladies' auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9448. The meal, which includes chicken enchiladas, taco salad and chili relleno, will run from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at $4.50 per plate, and be followed by an evening of bingo - with a progressive jackpot that's up to $900.
