People may be surprised to learn that Muslims were among the righteous Gentiles who saved Jews from the Holocaust, in accordance with the traditional Muslim Albanian moral code of Besa, treating strangers as guests. An internationally recognized fine arts photographer presents photographs with first- person accounts of some of these rescuers. An exhibition based on Gershman's photographs, which Jimmy Carter says offers hope for Israeli-Arab relations, began a worldwide tour in 2008 after premiering at the UN under the auspices of Yad Vashem (Israel's Holocaust Martyrs' and Heroes' Remembrance Authority). The inspiring book includes a map.
