Berwind Corporation acquires Specialty Coating Systems.

Berwind Corporation, a Philadelphia, PA-based private investment firm, has purchased Specialty Coating Systems (SCS) from Bunker Hill Capital LP for an undisclosed sum.

Bunker Hill Capital acquired SCS in December 2005 from Cookson Electronics. The Boston-based private equity firm bought SCS, a manufacturer of specialized conformal coating technologies, to foster its growth.

Terry Bush, SCS president and CEO, said the company's acquisition by Berwind is a testament to its sustainable growth prospects. Berwind's portfolio of companies includes those in the pharmaceutical, specialty chemical, automotive and natural resources industries. The private investment management company represents several billion dollars in enterprise value and employs more than 3,500 workers worldwide.

The Indianapolis, IN-based SCS employs 379 people in nine facilities worldwide. About 120 of those workers are based in Indianapolis.
