Bert Kus Joins Global Communication Semiconductors as VP of Manufacturing; New Vice President Leads Company's High-Volume Manufacturing Effort.

) Inc. as Vice President of Manufacturing.

Reporting to Dr. Owen Wu, President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. , Kus will be responsible for managing all aspects of manufacturing efforts as the company's business expands.

Kus possesses more than 20 years of manufacturing experience. Most recently, he served as Plant Manager of the GaAs IC Operation at Conexant Systems. Kus also brings high-volume manufacturing experience from American Microsystems and Texas Instruments.

 foundry service for both InGaP and AlGaAs processes.

Additionally, GCS is delivering optoelectronic devices such as VCSEL (Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser) Pronounced "vixel." A type of laser diode that emits light from its surface rather than its edge. A VCSEL's circular beam is easy to couple with a fiber, and due to its surface-emission architecture, can be tested  and PIN diodes for the fiber communications market and is providing SAW filter foundry service for handset applications. The company also plans to offer PHEMT See FET.  foundry services in the first quarter of 2000.
