Here are the highlights from the Featured Expert column:

ADVANCEPCS (NASDAQ:ADVP) - EXPECTATIONALANALYSIS(R): At the end of January, this pharmacy benefit management A Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) is a third party administrator of prescription drug programs. They are primarily responsible for processing and paying prescription drug claims.  company reported earnings of 46 cents per share Cents per share

The amount of a mutual fund's dividend or capital gains distributions that a shareholder will receive for each share owned.
, surpassing the Street estimate by two cents per share. The firm also raised its 2003 earnings estimates. Despite its fundamental strength, investors have grown more negative toward the security. The number of ADVP shares sold short soared 20.2% over the most recent reporting period to seven million shares. This increases the chances of a short-covering rally boosting the stock higher.

COGNIZANT TECH. SOLUTIONS (NASDAQ:CTSH) -EXPECTATIONALANALYSIS(R): CTSH creates full life cycle solutions to complex software development and maintenance problems that companies face as they transition to e-business. The company reported earnings that beat the consensus estimate by two cents per share. However, investors remain unimpressed, as the number of CTSH shares sold short skyrocketed 89% over the past month to 9.6 million. The shares have been on a monster run for the past 16 months, gaining nearly 300% off an October 2001 low.

JUNIPER NETWORKS (NASDAQ:JNPR) - EXPECTATIONALANALYSIS(R): The company reported fourth-quarter earnings of one cent per share, beating Wall Street's estimate that called for a loss of a penny. The company also provided a positive outlook going forward - a rarity in this market environment. After a long and painful drop from its October 2000 high, the stock has more than doubled off its October bottom and is currently riding along the support of its 10-week moving average.

APACHE (NYSE:APA) - EXPECTATIONALANALYSIS(R): APA explores for, develops, and produces natural gas, crude oil, and natural gas liquids. Crude oil futures continue to inch closer to $40 per barrel as tensions remain high over a possible war with Iraq. With many analysts factoring in only $20-perbarrel prices, APA could see higher earnings expectations in the future. Investors are skeptical of the company's strength, as the number of APA shares sold short rose more than three percent over the most recent reporting period to 4.5 million shares. In addition, the stock's average call volume is down more than 30% since late January. Furthermore, APA has outperformed the S&P 500 Index on a weekly basis since November 2001.
