HELENA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 4, 2000 Beringer Wine Estates' (Nasdaq:BERW) Senior Vice President and Winemaster Ed Sbragia announced the appointment of David Schlottman to the position of Senior Winemaker at St. Clement Vineyards. Schlottman, who was Winemaker for the company's Napa Ridge brand until it was sold in January, 2000, will be responsible for all wines at St. Clement's winery win·er·y n. pl. win·er·ies An establishment at which wine is made. Schlottman, who has been with Beringer Wine Estates for nearly 25 years, garnered numerous awards and critical acclaim during his time with Napa Ridge, producing wines which were widely known for their combination of quality and value. In 1997 he was named "Winemaker of the Year" by the influential Quarterly Review of Wines. Schlottman graduated from U.C. Davis with a BS in enology in the early 1970's, and joined Beringer Wine Estates as an enologist in 1976. St. Clement Vineyards, which was founded in 1975, was purchased by Beringer Wine Estates in 1999. Bill Ballentine, a third-generation Napa Valley winemaker, joined St. Clement in 1998.
