Bergen County investment firm embarks on expansion.

The year 1997 is a milestone for the real estate investment firm of Whiteweld & Company. In one of the largest transactions in Bergen County, the firm sold Whiteweld Corporate Center in Woodcliff Lake, NJ to The Cali Organization and successfully sold out the 140-townhome community called Cambridge Heights in Clifton.

Whiteweld & Company is now planning a significant acquisition and expansion program in both the commercial and residential markets in New Jersey, as well as Connecticut, North Carolina and Arizona.

The sale of Whiteweld Corporate Center represents the culmination of a five-year marketing and leasing campaign during one of the commercial real estate industry's most challenging periods. Originally built on spec without any tenants, Whiteweld Corporate Center was considered one of the finest Class A office buildings ever built in Northern New Jersey. John J. Johnson, senior vice president of Whiteweld's Commercial Division, said marketing efforts culminated in the building reaching 100 percent occupancy in late 1995 by attracting such tenants as Xerox, Medco, NYCE, Comdisco, Kraft General Foods and Chase Manhattan Bank, all triple AAA credit tenants.

Cambridge Heights at Clifton was one of the fastest selling new home communities of the year. This 140-townhome community was completely sold out in one year. The sales director of Cambridge Heights, Jack Vaughan, was also recognized by the New Jersey Builders Association as one of the highest performing sales professionals in the entire state.

Currently, Whiteweld & Company is planning major new residential communities throughout New Jersey and in Stamford, CT, Scottsdale, AZ, and Wilmington, NC.
