Bergen Brunswig Medical Corporation Partners With Norton Healthcare to Improve Distribution and Lower Costs in Kentucky and Surrounding Region.

), announced today it has signed a three-year primary source agreement to provide medical-surgical products to Norton Healthcare's eight hospitals and more than 20 medical facilities in Kentucky, Indiana and Illinois.

Norton Healthcare Norton Healthcare is Kentucky's largest healthcare system with 40 locations in and around Louisville, Kentucky. Founded in 1886, Norton's current major products include pediatrics; women's services; orthopedics; cardiac care; stroke care; advanced surgical services; cancer , through its Purchasing Partnership, comprises one of the largest integrated health systems in the region, significantly expanding Bergen's presence in the southern and midwestern areas of the nation.

The three-year contract, which includes two, two-year extension options, builds on the successful relationship between Norton and Ransdell Surgical in Louisville, which Bergen acquired in 1998. The current contract is valued at approximately $75 million over the three-year term, of which approximately half is incremental new business to Bergen.
