Bergen Brunswig Drug Company (BBDC), a subsidiary of Bergen Brunswig Corporation (NYSE: BBC) today announced that Dan Ramirez, Pharm.D., has been named vice president of Good Neighbor Pharmacy(R) (GNP).

GNP is a voluntary network of more than 2,000 independent pharmacies serviced by Bergen Brunswig Drug Company.

Ramirez brings to Bergen more than 30 years of industry experience ranging from retail pharmacy operations and third party marketing to pharmacy benefits management. Most recently, he was vice president of strategic network development at MedImpact HealthCare Systems, Inc., where his expertise in operations, sales and marketing strategies was instrumental in fueling the company's rapid growth.

The new GNP leader, who earned his bachelor's degree in business administration as well his Pharm.D. from the University of Southern California, has developed and managed such varied pharmacy programs as systems implementation, e-commerce pharmacy platforms, chain warehousing and pharmacy sales and marketing initiatives. He is a member of numerous professional organizations including the American Pharmaceutical Association, the NACDS Pharmacy Affairs Committee and the Orange County Pharmacists Association.
