Benwin Speakers Go 3-D.

CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 5, 1999--Kwonq Quest LLC, the maker of Benwin multimedia and flat panel speakers, announced that it will incorporate SRS Labs Inc.'s patented, award-winning, three-dimensional Sound Retrieval System (SRS) technology into four of its speaker systems that are designed for use with PCs, CD players and stereo systems. The new units will be available in a variety of models and prices to fit the needs of PC users, gamers and music lovers.

SRS Product Manager Tony Farinella said the SRS 3-D technology works with any audio signal, whether it is mono, stereo, surround sound or even encoded with a sound enhancement process. "The listeners will think they are surrounded by speakers," said Farinella.

"Adding the SRS technology will make our speakers the hottest, most affordable three-dimensional multimedia speakers available and will provide users with results that are amazingly close to real-life sound. This technology will put music lovers right in the middle of their favorite game, musical group or orchestra," said Ben I, president of Kwong Quest.

Four Benwin multi-speaker systems using the SRS 3-D technology will be available by the end of the first quarter, with prices ranging from $49.99 to $149.99 and with power outputs of 36 to 75 watts.

The sub-woofer in each of the Benwin 3-D systems contains the power switch, 3D-on/off switch with LED indicator, volume, treble and bass controls and a headphone jack. All Benwin speakers are shielded to prevent interference from other electronic devices.

The SRS technologies have received numerous awards, including "Best of Show" at the 1989 Consumer Electronics Show and the American Electronics Association "Innovations in Technology" award in 1996. SRS technologies are already in use in DVD players, advanced movie theatre sound systems, car CD players and musical instruments and has been licensed to Sony and RCA for use in high-end television sets.
