Bentley more rewarding than Heaven for Queally; WOLVERHAMPTON YESTERDAY'S ACTION.

Byline: by Will O'Hanlon

TOM QUEALLY, who won the Listed feature at Pontefract on Sunday, had mixed fortunes here, taking the 7f handicap on Bentley but getting no run in the straight when beaten on Heaven in the 5f handicap.

Bentley, who has recently joined James Given from Derek Shaw Derek Shaw is Chairman of Preston North End Football Club (2001-Present), and formerly Deputy Chairman (1997-2001).

Shaw, a lifelong Preston North End fan, originally became involved in the club through shirt sponsorship in the early 1990s.
, struck on his second run for the Willoughton trainer when landing the 7f handicap with something in hand.

The 7-2 shot was never far off the pace and kept on under pressure in the straight to see off the free-running All You Need.

"He ran a good second on his debut for James at Lingfield," said Given's representative Chris Dalton.

"That was also over seven furlongs, and it would seem as if a step up from sprinting has helped the horse, although I think he still has the speed to be effective at six."

Queally's chance of completing the double rested on Heaven, and with any sort of run in the straight, the 3-1 jointfavourite would have obliged. But the Peter Makin-trained filly filly

Sally Randell, who has had 20 rides in point-to-points and one over regulation fences, gained her first success with her first ride on the Flat when making all on Dandygrey Russett for trainer Dai Williams in the 1m4f amateur riders' seller.

"I was pretty nervous beforehand, but I really enjoyed it," said Randell. "I'd ridden the horse at home and she's been working well, but she can be keen and I was very pleased when she settled for me."

Dandygrey Russett was a rare Flat winner for Williams. The mare came to him after being bought out of a Uttoxeter selling hurdle by Paul Rich.

"She's got very arthritic joints," said the Monmouth trainer, who retained his winner without a bid.

Predict, trained by Sir Mark Prescott and ridden by Jean-Pierre Guillambert, made it third time lucky after a couple of second placings when taking the 6f juvenile maiden, while Hadden Frost's mount Themwerethedays won the 1m maiden for trainer Sylvester Kirk.
