), a drug delivery company with a commercial presence in Europe, announced today that its wholly-owned subsidiaries, Laboratorios Belmac S.A. and Laboratorios Davur S.L., have each been granted approval by the Spanish Ministry of Health to market generic versions of fluoxetine fluoxetine /flu·ox·e·tine/ (floo-ok´se-ten) a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor used as the hydrochloride salt in the treatment of depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, bulimia nervosa, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder.  in Spain in dosage forms of 20mg capsules. The products are planned for launch during the 4th quarter of 2000.

These presentations of fluoxetine are the generic equivalent of Eli Lilly's world-leading antidepressant antidepressant, any of a wide range of drugs used to treat psychic depression. They are given to elevate mood, counter suicidal thoughts, and increase the effectiveness of psychotherapy. , marketed under the brand name, Prozac(R).
