Bentley Pharm. Acquires Senioral From Sanofi-Winthrop.

TAMPA, Fla.--(BW HealthWire)--Nov. 17, 1998--Bentley Pharmaceuticals Inc. (AMEX:BNT) Tuesday announced that it has purchased the product Senioral from Sanofi-Winthrop for approximately $1.4 million cash.

Senioral is a combination product useful in the treatment of congestive symptoms of the upper respiratory tract. Bentley's Spanish subsidiary, Laboratorios Belmac S.A., started marketing this product in October and expects sales of approximately $1 million in the first 12 months with a gross margin of about 65 percent.

James Murphy, Bentley's president and chief executive officer, stated that, "Senioral is a proven medication that can be promoted in combination with antibiotics such as Arzimol(TM) for the treatment of upper respiratory tract infections. Senioral comes in both adult and pediatric formulations. We expect this product to significantly impact our bottom line.

"Our strategy should now be clearly recognizable. This year we have added ten strategic products to our portfolio, three of which are already generating sales and seven of which we anticipate launching in calendar year 1999. We are enthusiastic that a number of these products are formulated utilizing our advanced drug delivery technologies for controlled release.
