Bentley Systems, Incorporated today announced the release of the V8 Generation version of Bentley(R) PowerDraft(TM) and the new family of PowerDraft applications.

Based on PowerDraft technology, Power products are for users who want drawing-oriented, domain-specific functionality at a very compelling price.

Power products natively support both DGN and DWG, the predominant formats in the AEC community, and can be easily customized. With this new product line, Bentley is enabling cartographers, mapping professionals, surveyors, operations and maintenance managers, construction managers, and independent consultants to contribute and view far richer content than possible with other drawing tools.

Available immediately, this version of Bentley PowerDraft is a part of the V8 Generation and leverages many of its new capabilities, including design history and digital rights management. PowerDraft and Power products are available through node-locked licensing or concurrent licensing with Bentley SELECT(R), Bentley's comprehensive subscription program.

The first Power product to be unveiled is Bentley(R) PowerMap(TM), an easy-to-use, full-featured mapping and geospatial application. At the heart of Bentley PowerMap is a rich, 2D geometry creation and editing environment, allowing users to easily create highly accurate, large-scale maps.

Key features include a range of editing, clean-up and thematic mapping tools, file import for a range of common geo-oriented formats, flexible coordinate system support, automated reference file transformation and integrated high performance imaging. Bentley PowerMap offers ODBC connectivity as well as querying of Oracle(R) Locator/Spatial data.

Bentley PowerMap is also a robust development platform for other geospatial applications. Supporting development tools, including MicroStation Development Language (MDL(R)), Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), Topology Macro Language and Oracle Spatial tools, are available exclusively to subscribers of the Bentley Developer Program.

Other Power products to be released include Bentley(R) PowerI/RAS B(TM), PowerSurvey(TM) and Bentley(R) PowerSchematics(TM). Bentley PowerI/RAS B will offer high-performance raster-editing and raster-to-vector conversion of binary-scanned documents. Bentley PowerSurvey will support delivery of field book data to users of Bentley's GEOPAK(R) and InRoads(R).

Bentley PowerSchematics will provide intuitive and intelligent process and instrumentation diagramming tools.
