About EEM

Enterprise Engineering Modeling (EEM) is a market category that has been identified by Dataquest, a Gartner Group company, as a progression of the computer-aided design computer-aided design (CAD) or computer-aided design and drafting (CADD), form of automation that helps designers prepare drawings, specifications, parts lists, and other design-related elements using special graphics- and calculations-intensive  market. CAD is limited to geometric data shared within a design group.

EEM encompasses modeling all aspects of engineered assets and sharing the information with extended enterprises that design, build, and operate the assets. Driven by forces similar to those behind ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) An integrated information system that serves all departments within an enterprise. Evolving out of the manufacturing industry, ERP implies the use of packaged software rather than proprietary software written by or for one customer. , EEM is made possible by advances in client/server, component software, web, mobile device, and spatial database technologies.
