Benthos announces first quarter fiscal 1995 sales and earnings.

NORTH FALMOUTH, Mass. --(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Jan. 23, 1995 -- Benthos Inc. today announced first quarter sales of $1,425,000 for the period ended Jan. 1, 1995, a 26 percent decrease compared with sales of $1,938,000 for the first quarter of last year.

As a result of lower sales and higher than expected new product production costs, the company experienced a net loss of $322,000 or $0.37 net loss per share as compared with a net loss of $145,000 or $0.16 net loss per share for the first quarter of last year. Order backlog at the end of the first quarter of 1995 was $2.1 million.
