Benson Smith Joins Solace Therapeutics' Board of Directors.

CARLSBAD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 11, 2003

Solace Therapeutics Inc. announced that Benson Smith has been elected to the company's Board of Directors, effective Jan. 30, 2003.

Solace President and Chief Executive Officer, John Kilcoyne stated today, "We are delighted that Mr. Smith has joined our team as a Director of the Company. His extensive experience in urological medical devices as well as his reputation and broad industry expertise will add a great new dynamic to our Boardroom. Benson will be invaluable to our Board and to the continued development of our business."

Smith held a series of positions within C.R. Bard for 25 years. In 1991 he was elected to the position of Group Vice President where he was responsible for Bard's urological product group and the angioplasty and angiography portion of its cardiovascular product group. Smith became a member of the Board of Directors of C.R. Bard Inc. in 1994. Shortly thereafter, he was promoted to the position of President and Chief Operating Officer.

Smith is currently Chairman of the Board of the National Association for Continence. Additionally, he is an author and lecturer for the Gallup organization where he speaks and writes on Gallup's extensive research in the area of sales effectiveness.

Solace Therapeutics is developing a non-surgical device specifically for the treatment of Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI).
