Benjamin Franklin 1706-1790: man of many talents.


In his time, he was the most famous American in the world. The people of Paris reproduced his image in so many places that his face was "as well known as that of the moon," as he wrote. Three hundred years after his birth, Benjamin Franklin continues to be among the most fascinating and beloved of our country's Founders.

Few, if any, Americans have had so profound an effect in so many different areas as Franklin did--in diplomacy, science, letters, and civic life. At a time when the 13 Colonies were struggling to define themselves as a nation, Franklin helped create their most essential documents--the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. He also defended their rights before Britain and secured crucial aid for the American Revolution American Revolution, 1775–83, struggle by which the Thirteen Colonies on the Atlantic seaboard of North America won independence from Great Britain and became the United States. It is also called the American War of Independence.  from the French.

PRINTER

Franklin's printing presses contributed a wealth of newspapers, books, pamphlets, and ideas to the life of colonial America.

In addition to his many inventions, Franklin conducted early and important experiments to prove that lightning was a form of electricity.

PHILOSOPHER AND AUTHOR

Franklin's ideas, proverbs Proverbs, book of the Bible. It is a collection of sayings, many of them moral maxims, in no special order. The teaching is of a practical nature; it does not dwell on the salvation-historical traditions of Israel, but is individual and universal based on the  (expressions), and witty sayings, especially those collected in his Poor Richard's Almanack Poor Richard's Almanack (sometimes Almanac) was a yearly almanack published by Benjamin Franklin, who adopted the pseudonym of "Poor Richard" or "Richard Saunders" for this purpose. The publication appeared continuously from 1732 to 1758. , have informed and entertained generations of readers.

STATESMAN

Franklin served as a leader both at home and abroad, helping to establish America as an independent nation. Here, he reviews a draft of the Declaration of Independence with John Adams There have been several notable people called John Adam:

Dear Son,

... Having emerg'd from the Poverty and obscurity, in which I was born and bred Born and Bred is a light-hearted British drama series that aired for four series on BBC One from 2002 to 2005. The cast was led by James Bolam and Michael French, who played a father and son who run a cottage hospital in , to a State of Affluence and some Degree of Reputation in the World, and having gone so far thro[ugh] Life with a considerable Share of Felicity, the conducing Means I made use of, which, with the Blessing of God, so well succeeded, my Posterity POSTERITY, descents. All the descendants of a person in a direct line.  may like to know, as they may find some of them suitable to their own Situations, and therefore fit to be imitated. That Felicity, when I reflected on it, has induc'd me sometimes to say, that were it offer'd to my Choice, I should have no Objection to a Repetition of the same Life from its Beginning, only asking the Advantage Authors have in a second Edition to correct some Faults of the first. So would I if I might, besides corr[ectin]g the Faults, change some sinister Accidents and Events of it for others more favourable, but tho' tho also tho'
