Benefon Announces New CEO.


SALO, Finland Salo (IPA: [ˈsɑlo]) is a town and municipality of Finland.

It is located in the province of Western Finland and is part of the Finland Proper region.
 -- Benefon OYJ OYJ Julkinen Osakeyhtiö (Finnish: public limited company) , a leading provider of navigation applications and location based solutions, today announced the appointment of Jonathan Bate Jonathan Bate CBE (born June 26, 1958) is a British scholar of Shakespeare, Romanticism and Ecocriticism.

He was educated at Sevenoaks School and the University of Cambridge.

Mr. Bate has over 16 years of international management experience in the mobile phone and consumer electronics sectors. He was most recently the Vice President of Siemens Northern Europe, where he was instrumental in increasing profitability by 300 percent in 24 months and doubling market share to 19 percent. Previous to this he was Managing Director of Siemens UK & Ireland where he established Siemens Mobile as the number 2 player in the UK. His leadership roles also include positions at Samsung Electronics, Philips and Motorola.

Benefon's latest Integrated GPS/GSM navigation and telematics device will ship to customers in the fourth quarter of 2005. The device will feature personal navigation combined with location based services and will initially launch in the UK and China and thereafter a global rollout of the product is scheduled.
