Benefits fraud plea.


A council is urging people to report benefit fraud.

Berwick Borough Council says too many people are abusing the system and claiming benefits fraudulently.

Anyone with information should call the council's 24-hour free hotline in confidence on 0800 195-4747.

TWO drivers were taken to hospital after a crash in the Borders.

A 21-year-old man broke an ankle and a 37-year-old man injured his back and chest after the smash on the B6460 Greenlaw-to-Mount Pleasant Road near Bogend Farm on Thursday.

PUPILS in Hartlepool will be honoured next week at an awards ceremony.

Hartlepool-born Sky Sports presenter Jeff Stelling Jeff Stelling is a British sport television presenter, currently hosting Soccer Saturday and Monday Night Football on Sky Sports.

Stelling was brought up in the North-East town of Hartlepool, and is a lifelong supporter of his hometown side.
 will present the prizes at Hartlepool College of Further Education on Thursday.

A total of 23 awards will be presented to successful primary, secondary and post-16 students at the ceremony, which has been organised by Hartlepool Council.
