Colonial Supplemental Insurance Selects BenefitAmerica Product

to Deliver Benefits Communication and Enrollment

BenefitAmerica, a subsidiary of UnumProvident Corporation, today announced the general availability of BenefitAmerica Spectrum, a next-generation product delivery platform that helps insurers to web-enable their products and services for enroller-assisted or self-service communications, employee decision support and enrollment. Colonial Supplemental Insurance, one of the pioneers of the employee benefits industry, will use a version of the Spectrum product as the foundation for a more competitive, flexible and efficient enrollment system through its agents. In addition, BenefitAmerica announced today that Tom Summerford has been appointed director of Insurer Solutions to drive the strategic development of Spectrum.

After an extensive evaluation of solutions that would meet its requirements, Colonial found a version of Spectrum combined with some capabilities of Campus to be technically robust enough to meet its needs while also leveraging its unique products, branding, back-office systems, and internal processes. The customized solution will be deployed later this year.

Industry Veteran Joins to Drive Spectrum Product Offering

Tom Summerford brings twenty years of experience in the insurance and benefits industry to BenefitAmerica's already deep understanding of both technology and insurance products. Prior to BenefitAmerica, Summerford held executive positions at Benefit Technologies, Inc. and Colonial.
