The case remains under investigation, and no one has been charged or cited. The Eugene police forensic reconstruction team is expected to present its findings to the Lane County district attorney's office soon.

Friday's fundraiser gets under way at 10 p.m. at the tavern at 1704 E. Main St.

Spokesman Aaron Ames said about two dozen people - half women, half men - have agreed to be auctioned off for a date that night at the tavern. He said participants can still sign up by phoning him at 913-9656.

Gift certificates at local restaurants and businesses will be raffled off, Ames said, as well as some tickets to the University of Oregon's home football game against Portland State University on Oct. 28.

Proceeds from the event will be deposited in the Orion Finn Smith Memorial Fund at Northwest Community Credit Union, Ames said.

Anyone unable to attend Friday's auction and raffle who wishes to donate to the fund can contact the credit union directly, he said.
