) today announced the first program that gives eligible CompuServe members a two-minute decision on an on-line application for up to a $10,000 personal loan at very competitive rates.

BNB, the commercial banking subsidiary of Beneficial Corporation, will launch this new loan product later this summer under a letter of agreement recently signed with CompuServe. Such an on-line loan product would be a first in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. .

BNB's electronic banking services are currently accessible through Beneficial's home page (http://www.beneficial.com). Once the new service is launched, it also will be available through CompuServe's new banking area (GO BANKING), located in the Finance section of the CompuServe Information Manager CompuServe Information Manager or CIM was CompuServe Information Service's client software. The program was a GUI front end to the text-based CompuServe service, which initially could be accessed using a standard terminal program using alphanumerical shortcuts. .
