Mitchell L. Beekloff, Edmund Willcox Clarke, Jr., Graciela L. Freixes, David B. Gelfound, John H. Ing and Kathryn A. Solorzano were all appointed to judgeships. Each position pays $171,648.

Beckloff, 45, of Santa Monica Santa Monica (săn`tə mŏn`ĭkə), city (1990 pop. 86,905), Los Angeles co., S Calif., on Santa Monica Bay; inc. 1886. Tourism and retailing are important, and the city has motion-picture, biotechnology, and software industries. , has served as a commissioner for the Los Angeles County Superior Court since 2001. He is a Democrat.

Clarke, 56, of Manhattan Beach Manhattan Beach, city (1990 pop. 32,063), Los Angeles co., S Calif., on Santa Monica Bay; inc. 1912. It is a residential and beach community with an oil refinery and nearby factories that produce transportation and electrical equipment, computers, and pottery. , was a partner at Stark & Clarke and Baker, Silberberg & Keener. He is a Republican.

Freixes, 51, of Valencia, has been commissioner for the Los Angeles County Superior Court for the past two years. Freixes is a Republican.

Gelfound, 43, of Simi Valley, has been deputy district attorney with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office since 1994. He is a Republican.

Ing, 53, of Rancho Palos Verdes Rancho Pal·os Ver·des

, has served as a commissioner for the Los Angeles County Superior Court since 1997. Ing declined to state an affiliation with a political party.

Solorzano, 46, of Los Angeles, has been a deputy district attorney for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office since 1990. She is a Democrat.
