BenQ and Silicon Optix Partner to Bring HQV Processing to Next-Generation Projectors.

LAS VEGAS Las Vegas (läs vā`gəs), city (1990 pop. 258,295), seat of Clark co., S Nev.; inc. 1911. It is the largest city in Nevada and the center of one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the United States.  -- BenQ and Silicon Optix Silicon Optix Inc (2001) is a privately held fabless semiconductor company that manufactures video/image digital processing integrated circuits. Originally a division of Genesis Microchip, Silicon Optix was spun off in 2001 by Paul Russo, the CEO of Genesis Microchip at the time.  have partnered to develop new lines of ground-breaking home cinema, home entertainment and dual use business projectors that will substantially raise the performance and feature bars for the industry.

"Our goal is to be the world's dominant supplier of dual-use data and home theater projectors," said Peter Chen (person) Peter Chen - The developer of the Entity-Relationship model. , Vice President and General Manager of BenQ's Digital Media Business Group. "We searched hard for a partner that has the depth and breadth of technology and capability that can help us to achieve that goal."

"We were impressed with Silicon Optix because of their landmark HQV HQV Hollywood Quality Video (processor)  technology and their commitment to innovation and image quality. Only Silicon Optix offered a no compromise processor delivering the best image quality for both HD and SD images," continued Mr. Chen. "By adding HQV processing, we'll offer stunning visual performance across all lines of our products."

HQV(R) processing encompasses true 10-bit video processing Video processing techniques are used in video codecs, video players and other devices. For example—commonly only design and video processing is different in TV sets of different manufactures. , full four-field motion-adaptive video de-interlacing for both standard-definition and high-definition signals, pixel-by-pixel temporal-recursive noise reduction, automatic multi-cadence detection, and pixel-based detail enhancement. It also uses the same video processing power--one trillion operations per second-- as the $60k Teranex Xantus box.

The BenQ projectors will also take advantage of Silicon Optix's exclusive advanced real-time warping and scaling engine to scale resolutions for correcting extreme keystone angles in both horizontal and vertical dimensions or for projecting on curved or warped surfaces while maintaining full image integrity.

About Silicon Optix

Silicon Optix Inc., a privately held fabless semiconductor company A fabless semiconductor company specializes in the design and sale of hardware devices implemented on semiconductor chips. It achieves an advantage by outsourcing the fabrication of the devices to a specialized semiconductor manufacturer called a semiconductor foundry or "fab. , is the leading supplier of advanced programmable video/image digital processing Digital processing is the process of altering digital data in any form.

The most common situations where digital processing is involved are computer graphics and digital audio processing.
integrated circuits (ICs). The company's products are driving three unique technologies into a broad range of markets: a patented, powerful, array-based programmable DSP (1) (Digital Signal Processor) A special-purpose CPU used for digital signal processing applications (see definition #2 below). It provides ultra-fast instruction sequences, such as shift and add, and multiply and add, which are commonly used in math-intensive  for digital video that can perform one trillion operations/second, enabling real-time pixel-by-pixel processing of HDTV (High Definition TV) A set of digital television (DTV) standards that offer the highest resolution and sharpest picture. Although some HDTV sets are available in standard (rather square) screen sizes, the overwhelming majority of sets are wide screen, which eliminates ; industry-leading and Hollywood-proven software algorithms from Teranex; and proprietary eWARP(TM) geometry processing. Silicon Optix's mission is to leverage these innovative technologies into ICs that will enable the next generation of digital video/image capture, transmission, distribution, editing, storage, and display solutions, with an initial focus on large-area digital displays, including front and rear projection. Silicon Optix is headquartered in San Jose, California San Jose (IPA: /ˌsænhoʊˈzeɪ/) is the third-largest city in California, and the tenth-largest in the United States. It is the county seat of Santa Clara County. , with operations in Hanover, Germany; Orlando, Florida; Taipei, Taiwan; Shanghai, China; and Toronto, Canada.
