Award Will Recognize Civilian Spouse of Soldier For Outstanding
                Contributions to the United States Army

WHAT:     A reception and press conference announcing the Ben Franklin
          Global Forum's establishment of the Julia Compton Moore
          Award.  The award was inspired by the achievements of Mrs.
          Julie Moore, the recently deceased wife of General Harold
          Moore.  Actress Madeline Stowe bought to life Mrs. Moore's
          contributions to military families in the movie We Were
          Soldiers, based on the book authored by Gen. Moore and
          Joseph Galloway.

DETAILS:  Mrs. Moore's actions to change Pentagon death notification
          policy in the aftermath of the historic battle of the Ia
          Drang Valley represents a significant contribution to our
          nation.  Prior to Mrs. Moore's intervention, Pentagon policy
          was to notify families by a telegram delivered by cab
          drivers.  It serves today as a shining example of one of
          Mrs. Moore's many contributions to the morale and welfare of
          the Army family.  2005 also marks the 40th Anniversary of
          the Ia Drang Valley.
