Noel Cawley, 47, of no fixed abode, denies murdering 83-year old Christy Hanley at his home in Kilbeggan, Co Westmeath, last May. He also pleaded not guilty to robbing the horse dealer of an unknown sum of money on the same date. Detective Sgt David Sheridan found a fingerprint on the buckle of the belt which matched the left thumb impression of Cawley. Forensic scientist Michael Burrington told the court that he generated DNA profiles of both the accused and deceased from the buckle. The trial continues. |
