Bells to ring out.


A TOP bell player is to play on the roof of a famous Tyneside building to mark its birthday, tonight.

Newcastle's Civic Centre will play host to international musician International Musician was a British monthly magazine in the 1970s edited by Ray Hammond. It dealt with a wide range of popular music issues, reviews, interviews and playing features.  Gerald Martindale. Gerald, from Canada, will be playing the carillon carillon, in music: see bell.

Musical instrument consisting of at least 23 cast bronze bells tuned in chromatic order. Usually located in a tower, it is played from a keyboard. Most carillons encompass three to four octaves.
 bells on top of the building, which marks its 40th anniversary this year, at 7pm.

The performance, by the world renowned player of carillon bells, is part of his European tour.

During his visit to the city, Gerald will also be giving an organ recital An organ recital is a concert at which music especially written for the organ is played.

The music played at such recitals was typically written for pipe organ, which includes church organs, and symphonic organs (also known as concert organs).
