Bellcore and Webcast announce alliance for Film Scouts.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 7, 1997--Bellcore and Webcast(TM) Multimedia Inc. have announced a strategic alliance for software and technology services.

The two companies provide a unique match of a billion-dollar corporation and an innovative entertainment company.

Bellcore, a leading provider of software, engineering and consulting services Noun 1. consulting service - service provided by a professional advisor (e.g., a lawyer or doctor or CPA etc.)
service - work done by one person or group that benefits another; "budget separately for goods and services"

of the former Bell System, and has pioneered some of the most important communications technologies of the past decade.

Webcast Multimedia Inc., founded in 1995 by CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  Mayra Langdon Riesman, has since been recognized as one of the leading entertainment sites on the World Wide Web. A pioneer in real-time broadcasting on the Internet, Riesman created the award-winning Film Scouts (www.filmscouts.com) site that provides live coverage of entertainment events. Best known for their coverage of the Cannes International Film Festival in 1995 and 1996, Riesman and her team are returning to Cannes on May 7 to cover the 50th anniversary of this premiere international motion picture event.

Riesman comments: "Our goal is to allow those who click onto our site to have a real experience of the festival. We want them to feel the sand between their toes, and the excitement of moving from one screening room to the next, not knowing exactly what's in store for them at every moment. Providing this immediacy on the Internet requires keeping up with the latest technology and our alliance with Bellcore will allow us to remain on the edge. Bellcore's latest innovations, such as Adapt/X Advertiser(TM) software, will play an integral role in our coverage this year."

"We're pursuing strategic relationships with small, fast-moving entrepreneurial companies," said Garrett Dreier, Bellcore's executive director of business development. "The fact is, you don't have to be a huge telecommunications company See telecom company.  with millions of access lines and billions of dollars in revenue to do business with Bellcore. If the mix is right, as it clearly is with Webcast Multimedia, all you need is access to a network and a dream."

Film Scouts will be among the first sites to use the Adapt/X Advertiser software, a software product that allows site visitors to customize the ads they see. Film Scouts has always carried ads, but until now, the same ads were presented to all visitors. By allowing visitors to see only ads for those products they're especially interested in, the Adapt/X Advertiser software increases the value of the site for the audience member while providing the maximum value associated with a highly targeted audience to the advertiser.

"Rather than just using advertising to support the site financially, Bellcore's product adds extra value for our audience by providing them with information they really want," Riesman noted. "This is an important step in developing the Web as a unique advertising medium."

Webcast is at the forefront of Internet broadcasting Internet Broadcasting (formerly Internet Broadcasting Systems), or IBS, is a provider of television station web sites. IBS hosts over 70 local stations' sites, and co-produced NBCOlympics.  and the production of original entertainment-oriented content on the Internet. For her, technological innovation has always been at the service of providing high-quality content. She and her staff travel the world to gather that content, making Film Scouts and Film Scouts on the Riviera the most highly touted entertainment sites on the net. Webcast's sites have won numerous awards, and have received international press coverage from European newspapers like Le Monde n. 1. The world; a globe as an ensign of royalty.
