Bellcore Launches New Business Unit to be Led by Jerry T. As Corporate Vice President and Group President of Operations Systems, Roberto (53) will be responsible for Bellcore's complete line of Operations' Support Systems, the large computer systems used by most of the nation's local telecommunications service providers to manage their systems and networks. Previously, Roberto had served as Bellcore's vice president and general manger for Network Management and Broadband Systems. Roberto began his career with Bell Laboratories in 1965, where he worked on developing software for electronic switching systems. After a tour of duty in the U.S. Army, he worked as a supervisor at Bell Labs and held increasingly responsible positions at Bell Labs and AT&T.
