BellSouth adds Florida Marlins to its marketing artillery.

Armed for competition: BellSouth enters into multi-year pact

BellSouth Corp. and Front Row Communications announced an exclusive multi-year advertising and marketing agreement making it the "Official Telecommunications Sponsor of the Florida Marlins The Florida Marlins are a professional baseball team based in Miami Gardens, Florida. The Marlins are a member of the Eastern Division of Major League Baseball's National League. The total sponsorship, which includes local, cellular, wireless, long distance, Internet, yellow pages, pay phones and paging services, offers a range of sponsorship opportunities involving merchandising, player appearances, promotions and television, including the "BellSouth Call to the Bullpen" audio/visual feature during live Florida Marlins broadcast games; on-air promotions; and media placements on live Marlins broadcasts, pre-game, post-game and weekly highlight shows.

The three-year deal includes an agreement with Front Row Communications for sponsorship of 70 Florida Marlins games on UPN Channel 33 and SportsChannel Florida's 35-game Marlins package.

SportsChannel's comprehensive network programming, coupled with its large subscriber base, gives BellSouth the ammunition to leverage our brand with our customers and enhances BellSouth's growing relationship with sports in the southeast," said Joe Lacher, president BellSouth Florida.

BellSouth's ever-growing armory of sports sponsorships will include the annual PGA Tour BellSouth Classic and Senior PGA Tour BellSouth Senior Classic golf tournaments, Senior PGA Tour golfer Hale Irwin, the Atlantic Coast (ACC See adaptive cruise control. ) and Southeastern (SEC) Conferences, the Atlanta Peachtree Road Race The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race 10K, or more commonly called the Peachtree Road Race, is a 10 kilometer road race held annually in Atlanta, Georgia on July 4, Independence Day.  10K, NASCAR NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing), organization that sanctions American stock-car races, est. 1948. BellSouth Corp.'s newest deal will include full telecommunications sponsorship exclusivity for each live broadcast of Marlins games on Channel 33 and SportsChannel, pre- and post-game shows and The Jim Leyland Show on SportsChannel and the Marlins' weekly highlight show on Telemundo TV Channel 51. The Telemundo weekly Marlins highlight show will air Saturday's from 1 - 1:30 p.m. and feature BellSouth Hispanic commercials. Additionally, the BellSouth brand will be prominently displayed through game-day program advertising and the BellSouth logo on all Florida Marlins pocket schedules.

"Through our relationship with Channel 33, BellSouth will purchase air time and SportsChannel will manage the overall production of the broadcast," said Dean Jordan, president of Front Row Communications.
